Texel Breeders’ Club

Welcome to the North West Texel Breeders’ Club website, featuring the latest news and information; here you will find detailed information into the history of the Club, upcoming events and sales, our latest missions, news and much more.

The Texel breed is renowned for its exceptional carcass qualities, which has made the Texel the dominant terminal sire breed in the UK.

The North West Texel Breeders’ Club was founded in 1982, and has been at the forefront of producing and marketing top quality Texel sheep on behalf of its members. Many of the Club’s Members were instrumental in the first importations of Texel sheep into the UK in the late 70s and early 80s, and since then, annual sales of rams and gimmers in the summer, and in-lamb females in the winter have become an important feature of the sales calendar. Over the years the Club and its founder members has worked hard to ensure that the Club and breed continues to grow.

Today’s membership is around 250 and interest continues to rise rapidly. However, the Club is never complacent and there is always more work to do. Please take a few minutes to browse our website and discover what makes the North West Texel Breeders’ Club and its members so special. Our thanks go to everyone who has helped support the Club.
